We take you on an unhurried half-day visit to two domestic gardens, each with a profusion of tropical flowers and shrubs.

This morning tour will leave you in no doubt as to why Grenada won Gold at Chelsea Flower Show five years running.

Tuesday mornings, other days on application.

We start at 'Sunnyside', a garden which was deservedly featured in Channel 4's (UK) TV series Gardens of the Caribbean'

The sheer variety of colours, shapes sizes and textures of everything from trees to aquatic plants is unforgettable. So too are their names: meet Scorpion Orchids, the Upside Down Tree, the Sealing Wax Palm, the Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, Black-Eyed Susan, and of course the more familiar bougainvilleas and heleconias. The hibiscus collection is quite superb.

The garden is the result of years of TLC by the owner. It is established and mature, but not 'finished': flowers and features are continually being added and changed. It can be difficult to tear yourself away from the Koi Carp pond.

At our next stop, 'Joydon', you admire the sort of coastal view that makes estate agents run out of superlatives.
Both before and after the walk around the garden, there’s time to sit and enjoy Joyce’s jams and juices. Afterwards, you can buy jam to take home; ‘A taste of paradise’ as Joyce, your hostess, calls it. All of it is made from garden fruits a stone’s throw away.

In line with the personal, informal nature of these visits, you are normally shown around the first garden by the owner, which makes the experience all the richer. Numbers are limited for each visit.
